Africa moves into Gammel Torv with fine colors and rhythms

Saturday, 22 May 2010 African-Danish Network invites you at GLOBAL FAIR for the second time. The event will be held at Gammel Torv in the heart of Aalborg City, starting from 10:00 to 16:00. The purpose of this arrangement is to get Aalborg city closer to its residents -  Danes, Africans and other ethnic groups, to share their culture and social activities, filled with fine colors, rhythms and joy. It is life-affirming!

GLOBAL FAIR offers a colorful program with musical entertainments with African dance and Folkedanse among others. Prominent speakers, such as Orla Hav (MF) and Ivory Coast's ambassador are also invited  to address the assembly. In addition, different booths are seen at Gammelt Torv, where various entrepreneurs, private and voluntary organizations present their products or profile. Read more about the program at www.african-danish-network.dk

Prominent Guests at GLOBAL FAIR: Prominent speakers have been invited to address the assembly at GLOBAL FAIR. Pastor Lee Hanson of Bethel Baptist Church for example,  a Master of Ceremony will present his welcome speech. Orla Hav, the ambassador of Côte DÍvoire, Professor Mammoet Muchie of Aalborg University and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mette Knudsen will address the assembly basically, presenting their different views on human, social and cultural relations and Africa issue as well.

African dance and Folkedanse at GLOBAL FAIR: Our audience will also be offered with a plenty of entertainments. African Footprint International for example presents their traditional dance with African rhythms, songs and drums. We hope that their dance will give our audiences an opportunity to gain insight into a wonderful world of African heritage. Putroe Aceh presents traditional dance from Acheh - Sumatra and Folkedanse from Spillemandsmuseet in Rebild presents their traditional dance by entering the wonderful world of Danish cultural heritage. We hope that folkedanse will give Africans and other ethnic groups an insight and understanding of Danish tradition and heritage. Finally, children from Gl. Lindholm School would like to show our audience how well they can dance – African dance. It is a positive impact of integration with lots of joy, music and dance.

Market Place at Gammel Torv (booths): Several booths provide our audience with another perspective of GLOBAL FAIR. Various entrepreneurs, private and voluntary organizations present their profiles and products in order to create and expand their networks and social relationships, which we believe could be "value added".  Moreover, "Global Fair" also provides you with an opportunity to learn more about how to start a business. Elin Nielsen, communication supervisor from Explicit will be there to give you an advice of how you can start a business. There are many things to take into consideration when starting a business, Elin Nielsen says, who has been establishment mentor for over seven years. She has a wider and an  excellent  knowledge about marketing and NINsystemet which, she says,  provide necessary and free counseling hours, if you would like to start a  business.

Who are we? African-Danish Network is a voluntary organization that assist in promoting cultural understanding, cultural exchange, friendship and networking between Danes, Africans and other ethnic groups in our communities. We hope to create a greater understanding between people from different ethnic groups and cultures, and not the least creating an understanding of how Africa can provide enabling environment for investment opportunities. We hope that GLOBAL FAIR would be able to promote A-DN in its  voluntary and local integration initiatives and efforts. For more details visit: www.african-danish-netværk.dk

Who says it should be easy?: Who says that integration is easy? No one, but we must start from somewhere. The fact is,  just because something is difficult it doesn’t  necessarily mean that it is impossible. African-Danish Network believes that it is very important to highlight the positive aspects of integration if integration needs to be achieved and sustained. We believe therefore in creating a positive and conducive environment for greater understanding of how different ethnic groups can meet and exchange their ideas and views on mutual grounds. We also hope to give our audience and guests great cultural experience with greater opportunities for development.
