On the 5th of December 2009, A-DN in cooperation with Brovst Asylcenter – Jammerbugt Kommune will hold a social event for refugees and other minority groups at Hobrovej 85, 9000 Aalborg. The principal objective of this event is to get an opportunity to try to get to know each other, try to talk to each other in order to understand their problems and thereby be in a position to help find possible solutions to their difficulties. It should to be borne in mind that most of these refugees have had a wide range of traumatic experience that have badly affected their lives, including their relationship with other people, family life, and their ability to cope with their daily life. It has often been very difficult for most of them to talk about their problems – or to get into contact with other people, or share their intense and unpleasant experiences through words, and in most cases, it is individual treatment that has always been recommended. However, we believe that although individual treatment is necessary, is not always sufficient to identify and lose their personal problems.
What is also needed is to create trust, by providing them with not only an opportunity to meet new friends, establish new social networks, create social relations and give them a good experience, but also raise awareness of the integration possibilities and opportunities that can positively and effectively impact on development of their self-esteem, personality and potentials. Life must go on regardless of our daily challenges.( flyers )
A-DN thus wishes to create a good and safe environment for refugees, based on mutual respect and understanding, friendships and networking between Danes, refugees and other minority groups in our communities. We hope this arrangement will give A-DN an opportunity to present itself as a coordinator and player in local integration efforts, and create a warm and sustainable partnership between Asylcenter, Pædagogseminariet , Aalborg University, Churches and other volunteer organizations. |
